Take Control Activities
Check your understanding of Control Surfaces and Aircraft Motion. This interactive activity shows an image of an aircraft moving in a way that the nose of the airplane is alternately raising and lowering. The student is asked to identify whether this motion is roll, pitch, or yaw. We then see an image of an aircraft moving in a way that the nose of the airplane is alternately moving right and left. The student is asked to identify whether this motion is roll, pitch, or yaw. We then see an image of an aircraft moving in a way that right wingtip is rising while the left wingtip is dropping. The student is asked to identify whether this motion is roll, pitch, or yaw. Finally, an image of an aircraft is displayed with the student being asked to identify the rudder, elevators, and ailerons, and what motions each of these surfaces are responsible for.
