To Airport Planning Commission,

The proposed site for airport development is a quadrilateral region approximately 1,006.4 km2. The northerly border is the Mountain region, to the east are the residential area and city. A landfill occupies the NW corner, and outside the SW corner exists a light industrial area, including power stations. The region includes hilly terrain (12 to 20 degree slope), grasslands, wetlands, and a landfill. Legends are located in the right hand corner of each map to delineate different features.

Seven maps have been created to summarize important features of the land in question. These were created with data provided from agencies listed to the right of each map name. These agencies are expected to elaborate on the maps during development of the airport development plans. These include:

  • Relief and Soil Properties (United States Geologic Survey)
This map shows the soil characteristics uniform across the entire region, except the landfill and wetlands. Duff layer is .10 to .25 cm in grasslands region, and .25 to 1 cm in sloped regions.
  • Wetlands and Habitats (Environmental Protection Agency, Environmental Assessors of Sacramento)
Two main regions of concern are the wetlands and grasslands, which serve as habitat for a variety of flora and fauna.
  • Site Pollution (Environmental Protection Agency, Environmental Assessors of Sacramento)
Three regions of pollution include the wetlands, landfill, and light industry region.
  • Noise and Safety (Environmental Protection Agency)
Main sources of noise and safety concerns are the residential area, city, Highway 200 and adjacent roads, light industry region, and mountains.
  • Road (Department of Transportation)
Two proposed roads to cater to airport traffic are shown on this map.
  • Wind Conditions (Meteorological Society)
This map indicates the different wind conditions prevalent during different seasons and in different regions.
