Elements of Flight Planning

The first step of flight planning is to assemble the materials required to plan the flight. Depending on its nature (i.e., route, distance, destination, and the like) you should have:

*The current sectional charts

*A VFR terminal chart if any portion of the flight will penetrate even just a*small segment of a Class B airspace

*A current Airport/Facility Directory for intermediate or destination airport*information and communication frequencies

*The aircraft Flight Manual or Pilot's Operating Handbook for weight and balance data as well as performance charts
