Teacher's Desk
Here you can download the entire Virtual Skies website. This will enable you
to install and run the site on any computer without needing an Internet connection.
Simply download the file below to your local computer. Once downloaded, you may copy it to a disk and then install it on any computer you wish.
The website files are contained in a ZIP file1,3. This file can be unzipped2 by a Mac or PC as long as you have ZIP software on your computer. There are many free ZIP programs you can install if your computer doesn't have one. For Macs, try Stuffit (this program usually comes as part of the standard operating system). For PCs, try PKzip or WinZip.
After you've downloaded the ZIP file to your computer (and once you're sure your computer has a ZIP program installed), simply double-click on the file to open it. Then, copy all of the website files to your local computer. After the files have been copied to your computer, open the "virtualskies" folder, and then open the file called "index.html" in your web browser to get started!

Helpful notes:
A ZIP file is a "compressed" format file. One or more original files
can be compressed in size and then stored in a ZIP file. When the original
files are needed, the user can "extract" the original files from
the ZIP file using a ZIP file program.
The process of extracting the original files from a ZIP file is known as "unzipping" the
ZIP file.
You can recognize a ZIP file by its file name extension of ".zip".
For example, the file, "file.zip", is a ZIP file because the file's
name ends in ".zip".
