Virtual Skies

Evaluation

Within each module of Virtual Skies, there are several opportunities for the teacher to be able to evaluate the students' understanding of the concepts presented. The You Decide activities provide a chance for class discussions, with each team presenting their decisions along with their rationale in reaching those decisions. Teachers can guide the discussions and evaluate proposed solutions with the help of matrices for the Airport Design, Weather, Navigation, Communication, Air Traffic Management, Aeronautics, and Aviation Research.

The Certification portions of each module are self-grading interactive online exams. You will know of the student's successful completion of a module's exam when the student presents you with their module certificate, which they can print after successfully completing the exam. Please note that while the exam does ask for the student's name, this information is not transmitted across the Internet or persistently stored on the local computer. It is only used for the purposes of including the student's name on the certificate. In the case of students who are accessing the site with a screen reader, or are not able to use current versions of Flash and/or JavaScript, JavaScript should be disabled in the browser they are using. The site will detect this, and direct them to a non-interactive listing of module test questions. The student can record their answers, and you can evaluate the student's responses yourself.
